Andy Pavlov - The Ghost Piano -
The Little Story Behind Delft’s Lost Piano

I am an Artist in Residence at the Kavli Foundation, working at TU Delft from 1st February to 1st May 2022 on the project “Beyond Quantum Music”.

The music I made during this period was inspired by my meetings with people and research on different topics related to Quantum Physics and Bio Nanoscience.

The Ghost Piano was waiting for me in Delft. The abandoned piano, left there alone in Kringloop Rataplan. I brought it to my office F333, and we spent some nice times together.

"Then I found an upright piano,
waiting for me in Kringloop Rataplan.
An Abandoned piano.
The Ghost piano.
Tchaika is her name.
Made in the USSR.
And I didn’t know the War would start soon,
that made me sad, angry and scared.

Heleen asked me to call the piano tuner
but I didn’t want to do that,
I wanted to have this piano just as it is
Lost and Found.

All pianos are tuned in the same way
but each piano that is not tuned,
sounds different, unique

Ready made
Marcel Duchamp."
